Gorgeous Reissue and Re-Master of the 1987 solo album from Edward Ka-Spel, which is often considered the darkest and most experimental in the China Doll series. Filled with swirls of analogue synths, Barry Gray's menacing guitar playing, and Edward's often cryptic yet playful storytelling, Aa∆zhyd China Doll takes us on a psychedelic trip that only the frontman of The Legendary Pink Dots could provide.
Opening with discordant slams on an organ over a basic rhythm and an angered voice demanding "Get this fucking horseman off my lawn!" Aa∆zhyd China Doll flows through the deviant arpeggiations of "Flesh Parade" to the gentle musings of "The Qa'spell". Side one ends with the curious story of a circus family trying to navigate heaven after a mishap with a banana peel.
Side two greets us with the ominous "Nuts and May" (turning tourists into super glue for kids to sniff on) and the almost industrial "Traitor's Gate" which abruptly ends sending us into the psychedelic spirals of madness of "Blowing Bubbles Part 3" Closing out with the 9 1/2 minute cacophonous "The Fool", Edward's effected voice growling "It's so lonely caged in Eden, Eating apples only cause we're so damned bored."
Bonus tracks include the epic "Witchfinder suite", a previously unreleased version of "Tanz 'Der China Doll" and the noisy "Colour Me Vexxed, Desiree".
Aa∆zhyd China Doll is now available as a Double LP on 180 gram vinyl and for the first time on cassette.
